Many townships in Upper and Central Bucks run sewage management programs. Doylestown Township, Plumstead, East Rockhill, Hilltown, West Rockhill and Solebury use a three-year cycle; Milford uses five years. Several, like Plumstead and East Rockhill, require the pump-out receipt within 30 days. Doylestown Township also requires an inspection with each pumping and, for homes with a private well, a coliform well test every three years. Boroughs such as Perkasie, Sellersville, Quakertown, Richlandtown, Dublin and Chalfont are mostly on public sewer, so septic homes are usually in the surrounding townships. Check the rules for your area.
Usually every three to five years, depending on tank size, household and township rules. See septic tank pumping.
Pennsylvania doesn't require one statewide, but buyers often ask and some townships, like Milford, need proof of compliance. See septic inspection.
Wet spots, odors, slow drains and lush green strips over the field. See drain field repair.
